Paula S. Peebles is the President and Chief Executive Officer, Renaissance Community Development Corporation Inc., which owns and manages Jefferson Garden Apartment buildings, surrounded by the Jefferson Manor 106 classic town homes. The Little Feet Child Care- Head Start Center on the grounds of Jefferson Garden Apartments is a national model that combines community economic development with the nationally commended Head Start Programs.
Ms. Peebles have been actively involved in community-based economic development initiatives, non-profit organizational and management development for more than thirty years. She was instrumental in organizing over thirty community-based organizations, agencies and community leaders in North Philadelphia around efforts to designate North Central Philadelphia as an Empowerment Zone community.
As President of Girard and Broad Business Association, which she helped to re-establish in 1988, and under her leadership Girard & Broad Street Business corridor received designation as a Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization corridor.
Ms. Peebles has a B.A. in early childhood education from Temple University and M.S. CED in community economic development from Southern New Hampshire College, 1987 and a PhD. candidate at University of Delaware. As an adjunct professor she has taught in the community economic development Certificate Program at the University of Delaware, College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy for 12 years. Additionally, she is a consultant to many community-based organizations across the country.
Ms. Peebles served over ten years on the Board of Directors of the National Congress for Community Economic Development (NCCED), a Washington DC based community development trade association and continues to serve on several local Boards and Committees. Born and raised in beautiful North Philadelphia, one of 13 children, she was blessed to be reared in a two-parent household and received a catholic school education. Ms. Peebles is a mother of three successful daughters.
